As of April 5, 2018, Instagram has made the surprise move to drastically decrease what information developers can pull from Instagram. This is all due to the recent privacy issues with Facebook. (Read more here) This means that certain features in Covet.pics have been restricted.
Things you may notice:
a) Galleries can only pull from the username that is used to connect to Instagram. If you need to change that, see this article > https://bit.ly/2Jo6SDa - You'll then need to make sure that the username in your gallery feed settings is set to that same username.
b) For images that were being pulled from a different username, you will need to either hide or delete those images now. You can still manually upload them instead if you have permission to do so 1. Delete images 2. Manually upload images
For now, you can still use as many hashtags as your plan allows for but once the current API expires (sometime before the end of the year) this feature will no longer be available on any app using Instagram's API. It's worth looking ahead to start adding images to your Instagram account instead so that you are not affected when this change goes into effect.
d) Instagram has reduced the hourly API allowance of 5000 images/hour to 200 images/hour and we have thousands of users to refresh each hour.
e) The Search Instagram feature is not working at all at this time.
f) You may see white/missing images on your gallery on occasion. This is because Instagram has been randomly changing URLs and not sending an update via the API when they do this. You can press the Refresh button on the gallery moderation page, wait 5 minutes, refresh the web page and see if it works first. Otherwise, we are refreshing images every 24 hours so the images will reappear within 24 hours.
g) You may need to manually refresh your gallery for the time being using the Refresh button on the gallery moderation screen. You can see that button here > http://take.ms/LgUYJ Click that button, wait a few minutes, refresh the web page and you should see your new images. (If you are asked to upgrade, please email us)
h) Facebook recently released a new Instagram Graph API (Read more here) that will replace the current API but it also lacks the ability to grab images from other profiles or even public hashtags. The only good thing with new API is that we'll be able to grab images from where your profile has been tagged (not possible with current API). We're implementing this new API and we're hoping we'll have it soon in Covet.pics
We realize these are important functions for your business and we are doing all we can to lessen any impact but we can only work within the confines of what Instagram gives us. You can read more about this API issue here > https://tcrn.ch/2IxdhKX
We do not plan on changing any plan pricing at the moment. We will keep you updated. If you have further questions, email us at email@example.com
